Hello All,
I did not want you worrying as heard the weather here hit the national news. We are fine!
We did have lots of hail the last two nights along with several tornados. Fortunately none of that came over the campground. Looking at the weather map, Fountain, where our campground is, was between a lot of rain and a massive thunderstorm with quarter-sized and larger hail.
Unfortunately, our friends, Bob and Marge Card, who live in Colorado Springs when not at Sunland Springs Village, had two apple trees loaded with blossoms decimated with hail. Bob says the blossoms now have homes on the ground.
We have known the Cards for several years. They are leaders in the photo club at Sunland Springs. We spent a wonderful evening at their home last Sunday afternoon and joined them for dinner at Mimis. We plan to spend a day with them next week.
Wednesday we spent the afternoon at Garden of the Gods. Their red rock spires reminds me very much of Sedona. We found lots of named formations. Their paucity of visitor center exhibits did not live up to their web page description either in number or quality. We plan to go back for more photography as could only do the areas that weren’t backlit. The park does offer van and jeep tours and a 14-minute movie on the park’s geological and cultural history.
We drove past the Broadmoor on our way back to the campground - quite a complex. The zoo, Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun, and world figure skating museum are in the same area.
Yesterday we stayed in all day. Our motorhome has a combo washer/dryer which we put to good use as caught up on laundry. We had dinner at Luigi’s, an Italian restaurant in business since 1958, which caters to locals. They like Edelweiss, a German restaurant, offer the smaller plates. It was O.K. but we found a Carrabas on our way home which will be our preferred choice.
Pierre, our cat, is fine. He is our official greeter. We have to push him back into the camper whenever we come in as he always waits on the top step of the stairwell.
Nan
